The Rites of the Holy Week
The Rites of the Holy Week of Orosei are especially fascinating because faithfully to the Spanish tradition they originate from.
The “corfajos”, the Confraternities of Santa Croce (Holy Cross), of the Anime (souls) and of the Rosario (rosary) are the protagonists of these rites. They propose a religious version of the ancient Sardinian choral singing, popular in all the main towns of the island.
The three main processions are those of Sos Sepurcros, Su Brossolu and S’Incontru. The amazing costumes of the confraternities, the ancient simulacrum carried during the procession, the magic of the Sos Gotzos, the polyphonic folk singing performed during the processions are an absolutely amazing experience, not to be missed.
